Bryce Fluellen, Community Impact Director & Chef, American Heart Association LA: As American Heart Association’s LA , Community Impact Director & Chef , Bryce has leveraged his 20 years of community development experience and his creative blending of business and culinary skills to advocate for health improvement, especially in underserved, urban areas across the country. He joined the AHA almost 5 years ago to help grow Kids/Teens Cook with Heart (A healthy cooking program for youth ages 8- 18 yrs. old) and has positively impacted over 5,000 children and adults throughout Los Angeles County. In 2017, his role expanded to include youth-oriented health initiatives overall as the Senior Manager, of Community Impact and now in his current role he is responsible for improving heart health outcomes for the communities of South LA, Long Beach, South Bay , & Inglewood. Bryce is a passionate advocate for health and enjoys running 5 & 10k’s . His goal is to complete his first half-marathon by the Spring of 2019. He’s an author and published his first book,

Food A Vehicle for healing ( The fruitful journey) PT. 1 in 2016. His work has been featured in Huffington Post, Uproxx media, CBS & NBC news, LA Sentinel, and Disney Jr. He resides in the San Fernando Valley area with his wife & three kids.

 

Sara Neff is Senior Vice President, Sustainability at Kilroy Realty Corporation. Sara took Kilroy from having no sustainability program to being named the #1 publicly traded real estate company on sustainability in North America by GRESB, and under her leadership the company recently committed to becoming the first carbon neutral real estate company in North America by the end of 2020. At Kilroy, she oversees all sustainability initiatives such as solar and battery dealmaking, health and wellness testing and certification, the integration of sustainability standards into annual financial reports, the launch of the Kilroy Innovation Lab, and the award-winning green leasing program. She holds a BS from Stanford and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

 

Dr. Vincent is co-founder and CEO of Altus Sports Institute. Altus is a comprehensive high-end sports medicine and training center, which caters to patients that require an elevated level of expertise, such as professional and amateur athletes, Olympians, celebrities, and executives. It is also an educational institute for doctors and therapists who are looking to advance their knowledge and experience in all areas of sports medicine. Dr. Vincent brings his extensive athletic background to Altus having been a former world-class 800m runner himself competing for UCLA, the Santa Monica Track Club and the Portuguese National Team. He is Team Doctor and Injury Prevention Consultant for pro sports teams, international Olympic teams, governments, schools, businesses, and many film and entertainment companies. He has been national team doctor for five nations at seven World Championships and three Olympic Games caring for individual athletes from 19 different countries. Dr. Vincent has been sports physician for elite athletes, A-list actors and celebrities, including numerous world-record holders, gold medalists, collegiate athletes, professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLS, and Premier League. From 2002 to present he acted as medical and fitness consultant for the Olympic committee and government of Saudi Arabia. He has been consulting physician and medical coordinator for 18 major motion pictures and numerous television productions including Star Wars, Mission Impossible, and Star Trek. He is Co-Founder and Chairman of Turning the Tides on MS, a non-profit, charitable foundation raising funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis.

 

Elliot Roth, founder, Spira: Elliot is the founder of Spira, a company that creates delicious spirulina as an ingredient for food companies. Spira has received awards from RebelBio, Lighthouse Labs, the World Food Programme, Halcyon Incubator, BeGreen, CommBeBiz, and NSF. He has presented at SXSW, Synbiobeta and Thought for Food. Elliot is a Kairos Fellow, a Seasteading Ambassador, and sits on the Virginia Governor’s Council for Youth Entrepreneurship. Before Spira, Elliot graduated with a degree in biomedical engineering; he trained at the Stanford d.School, studied synthetic biology for 10 years and worked for 5 years as a product consultant. He previously founded 6 failed startups and 2 successful nonprofits including an open community science lab and raised over $500,000 for various startups. He is incredibly motivated to solve physiological needs using simple biological design. In his spare time he plays music, and is working on side projects to make airships and health clinics on the ocean.

 

Michele Stueven is the  Food Editor at L.A. Weekly, producing  daily stories, videos and photography across platforms  both online and in print on anything fit to eat.  She supervises a team of freelance writers and photographers covering all aspects of food and dining. She’s been a personal chef, caterer and food blogger in Los Angeles and has  catered many events, including an evening with the Women Like Us Foundation helping raise funds to fight sex trafficking and the opening of the Safe Place For Youth Facility in Venice. She enjoyed a long career as a  journalist at Time Inc.,  writing for People.com and People Weekly as well as producing events, cover shoots and inside stories on all subjects, the special Kraft Food Issues and jumping in as food stylist and director  for food stories before starting her own blog  The Gemini Kitchen. A native Angeleno, Michele is a farmer’s market fanatic  (and paparazzo!) celebrating seasonal ingredients across Southern California and loves to keep it local.  She gives regular cooking demonstrations at the brand new state of the art demo kitchen at Bloomingdale’s in the Westfield Century City Mall.
