Stuart Arbury joined Ramo Law in 2017 as a television executive, where he collaborates with clients to review, develop, package, and take out series projects, both scripted and unscripted. Arbury draws on his diverse professional background in order to marry the creative and business needs of a potential series and actively help clients navigate an ever changing episodic landscape. Arbury’s background includes executive posts for producers and buyers in television, digital and features. Prior to joining Ramo Law, Arbury was

 Director of Development at Canvas Media Studios (StyleHaul’s VANITY) and Captivate Entertainment (THE BOURNE IDENTITY franchise). His responsibilities for both included originating and acquiring projects, working directly with writers, actors, directors, representatives, and studio executives. Arbury was also a Creative Executive for Dimension Films, spending two seasons overseeing on-set duties for MTV’s SCREAM series, based on the hit horror franchise. Arbury was previously an assistant to Joe Drake, co-founder of Good Universe (NEIGHBORS, THE NIGHT BEFORE, POLTERGEIST), and Mike Medavoy, chairman of Phoenix Pictures (BLACK SWAN, SHUTTER ISLAND), in both instances working in all aspects of the development and productions of the companies’ feature and television slates. Stuart Arbury graduated from Florida State University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media Production and began his career as production assistant on several series, including ABC’s BOSTON LEGAL and CBS’ GHOST WHISPERER. He also gained experience through several internships, including at Mandeville Films, wrote and performed for The Second City, and co-founded, produced, wrote, and directed for the award winning online channel WolfKnifeTV.

 

Chris Burke, co-founder & GM, DrinkTV: Chris Burke is an Emmy-winning producer with a background in documentary and sports production. He is co-founder and CEO of DrinkTV, an SVOD OTT dedicated to celebrating the best stories, characters and adventures from the world of drinks culture—from cocktails and spirits to beer and wine.  As co-founder and managing partner at Los Angeles-based production company Redtail Media, he has created shows for networks including truTV, A&E, NBC's Esquire Network, Discovery Channel, and more. A self-professed tech geek, he is constantly exploring new solutions for every aspect of the content creation pipeline, from innovative camera developments to blockchain-driven disruption of the Internet's video delivery infrastructure. Chris is a graduate of Yale University and lives in Los Angeles, CA.

 

Josette Bonte, Ph.D., Managing Director, Digital Content Strategy, LLC: where she is in charge of industry relations and overseeing the Institute's research programs. Bonte, an industry veteran and expert in digital media and filmed entertainment, spent the first 11 years of her career as a film and television industry executive in Hollywood, and the past 17 years in the fields of telecom, interactive television, broadband content, and online games. Bonte joins the CTM from Cisco where she served as Executive Digital Media Strategist for the Internet Business Solutions Group's Global Media & Entertainment Practice. Prior to Cisco, Bonte was the Vice President of Digital Media at Cookie Jar Entertainment-producers of acclaimed children's TV series, including Arthur, Caillou, Zaboomafoo, The Doodlebops and Johnny Test. She also served as Vice President of Content and IPTV for Ovum, working on IPTV content deployment strategies with service provider clients including AT&T, Verizon, France Telecom, and BT. A telco TV pioneer, in 1994 Bonte joined then US West (now CenturyLink) as Head of Strategic Marketing, Entertainment, and Interactive services, where she participated in the company's early interactive media and video-on-demand trials, soon becoming the company's liaison to the Hollywood entertainment industry for content strategy. In the late 1980s, Josette served as Executive Director of Unifrance Film, where she represented the French motion picture and television industries in Hollywood. She subsequently founded EuroScreen Partners, a film production and distribution company where she served as CEO. Bonte has an M.F.A from the UCLA School of Film and Television, and a Ph.D. in telecommunications and new media from the Sorbonne. She is the author of the best-seller book La Television a la Carte aux Etat-Unis.

 

Robin Wilson, Director, RW TV: As the former VP of Business Development at NAGRA, Robin Wilson’s responsibilities include ensuring that the company’s current and future solutions are developed and applied whenever new opportunities or markets arise. Robin has over 25 years of international broadcast technology experience in companies that include BBC, NBC, RCA, DiviCom, Grass Valley and Modulus Video where he has held various marketing, engineering, management and founding positions. Robin’s technical expertise encompasses compressed video (MPEG-2, MPEG-4), content distribution (satellite, cable, IPTV, OTT,OVP, broadband), content security (DRM, CAS) and user interfaces. He recently had the opportunity to participate in government relations and lobbying on regulatory matters affecting digital TV, OTT and broadband. Robin has participated in and presented at many industry organizations including SMPTE, EBU, IBC, ATIS, and IEEE. He is also a member of NATAS, the group charged with investigating and selecting EMMY award recipients for innovative TV technology, and of the FCC advisory committee on Downloadable Security for US operators (DSTAC). Robin graduated with a BSc. degree in Applied Physics (EE) from Dundee University, Scotland, and holds a watermarking patent. NAGRA is the digital TV division of the Kudelski Group (SIX:KUD.S) and a pioneer in pay-TV technology. NAGRA solutions include DRM, Conditional Access, Digital Media Security, User Interfaces for Tablets, SmartTVs, Set Top Boxes for operators using MPEG-4, HEVC, Streaming Media, OTT, IPTV, Cable, Satellite, Mobile TV & VOD.

 

Michael Alexander, Strategy & Growth Initiatives, IBM Global Telecommunications Industry: Michael Alexander has more than 30 years of systems development experience in all aspects of the information technology business. Currently, Alexander is global solutions architect for SPST (service provider strategic transformation) in IBM's global telecom solutions. He consults with clients globally as an NGN telco subject matter expert  (SME) and as a technical leader in VoIP solutions. In addition, Alexander is responsible for the development of telco technical NGN and specifically for VoIP solutions developed by IBM for U.S. clients AT&T, BellSouth, Qwest, SBC & Verizon. He was previously  the IT architect profession executive and enterprise architecture practice lead for business innovation services, Australia/New Zealand. Before joining IBM, Alexander was technical partner & chief architect in the solutions integration practice at AT&T Solutions. He was responsible for the development of solution architectures that ensured successful engagements with all clients. Previously, Alexander worked at Unisys for 22 years and was the chief architect for Unisys' global systems integration practice. He has previously spoken on digital media topics at TM Forum Americas and TM Forum Nice.

 

Jonathan Hurd has been a Director at Altman Vilandrie & Company (AV&Co.)—a 120+-person strategy consulting firm focused on technology, media, and telecom—since 2006.  He has more than 25 years of consulting and industry experience in communications, media and related technology sectors.  Jonathan’s primary areas of expertise include corporate strategy, product innovation, marketing management, customer segmentation, pricing strategy, and new business planning and development.  Jonathan has recently been leading AV&Co.’s unique proprietary consumer survey and simulation techniques to analyze the impact of “skinny bundles” of TV channels, working with video distributors on product design and pricing of traditional and “over-the-top” video services, and advising broadcast and cable TV networks on product and pricing strategy for new video offers.  Jonathan is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the group charged with investigating and selecting EMMY award recipients for innovative TV technology.  Prior to joining AV&Co., Jonathan was a Vice President with ADVENTIS, a TMT-focused strategy firm, and was a partner at Mercer Management Consulting.  He has also served as Vice President of Marketing for a computer peripherals manufacturer, and held marketing and strategic planning positions at Lotus Development Corporation.  In addition, he has been a software development manager in industries including financial services, computer peripherals, and video game development—he designed and created the Atari arcade video game “Food Fight”.  Jonathan received a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT, where his thesis advisor was Nicholas Negroponte of the Media Lab, and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he received First Year Honors.  He is a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Electrical Engineering Honor Society and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.
