Adam Geoghegan is Co-founder and Managing Director of Immersia Virtual Reality, and Founder and President of Australia's Virtual Reality Association, founded to unite Australia's fragmented developer and start-up community. Born in England and raised in the Western Australia city of Perth (also known as 'the world’s most isolated city'), Adam started using computers at 8, building them at age 13, then founded Immersia VR in 2014 at the age of 23. He has grown the company from 2 part-time staff at home to a team of 20 programmers, 3D artists, game developers, movie directors, music producers and corporates spanning Australia, South East Asia, North America and Europe. While Immersia has developed virtual reality applications for a number of large industrial clients in mining, architecture, education and tourism, the company’s true passion lies within the fields of entertainment and mental wellbeing. Immersia has 4 applications due for first release in mid-October 2015, including a game, an animated movie, a music visualisation experience, and a music festival, the later created using 360 degree footage and 3D audio captured at Rottofest, an annual celebration of Australian music and comedy held on Australia's Rottnest Island. In the mental wellbeing space, Immersia has recently begun developing “Project Dopamine”, a platform that diagnoses, monitors and treats people suffering from anxiety and other mental health issues. The application enables VR meditation and the capture of real-time feedback on a patient’s mental state. Adam studied chemical engineering while completing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Western Australia, then completed a second Bachelor of Economics at McMaster University in Canada. In 2012 Adam went to work with the Strategy and Operations team at Deloitte Consulting Australia.
