MICHAEL HAWKEY, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Sling Media:  Michael Hawkey is Sling Media's Senior Vice President and General Manager and is responsible for driving Sling Media's retail and OEM businesses, overseeing strategy and tactical execution worldwide.   Prior to Sling Media, Hawkey was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at EchoStar, leveraging more than 20 years of experience in the manufacturing, design, engineering, sales and marketing of semiconductors, software and digital video products.  Before joining EchoStar, Michael was Executive Vice President of ADB Americas, where his team built the first ADB set-top box for the US cable industry. At STMicroelectronics, Michael was the Managing Director Satellite Business Unit, Home Entertainment Group, overseeing the development of satellite

hardware and software systems.  Michael's educational background includes a B.S. in Computer Engineering (Summa Cum Laude) from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana and Graduate Studies in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla.   In his spare time, Michael builds furniture, collects vinyl and old tube amps, and he's a die-hard hockey fan.

 

Jim Monroe, co-founder and SVP of Programming, Net2TV: has spent the last 25 years of his career collaboratively driving the evolution of television through innovations in audience research, programming, operations, marketing and technology. Monroe joined the launch team at Net2TV in early 2012, after 14 years with NBC Universal at the network in Burbank and at the company’s San Francisco Bay Area television station. While at the NBC Network, he played a critical role in a groundbreaking project to understand cultural differences across the U.S. and created a regional marketing strategy to account for those differences. As vice president of programming and creative services for NBC’s Local Media Division, Monroe developed programming and led marketing and new business development in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also oversaw marketing for the NBC stations in Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego and developed the video programming strategy and technical infrastructure for “NBC Everywhere,” the company’s digital out-of-home programming and advertising business. Between stints with NBC, Monroe was the executive producer at TiVo. He joined the company during its start-up phase, developing original programming, interactive TV advertising products and promotional features. He founded the company’s research business and developed the DVR industry’s !rst interactive TV program, ”TiVo Takes.” He began his career as a producer of government training !lms, a musician and a local-market public radio newscaster. Monroe has won many professional awards (including several for marketing and advertising) and regional Emmy awards. He studied television and !lm at the University of Utah.

 

Chris Wagner, Executive Vice President and Co-Founder, NeuLion: Chris Wagner, Executive Vice President and Co-Founder, NeuLion: Chris has been a driving force in the technology industry for over 20 years and has worked closely with executives from many major corporations and entrepreneurs who have relied on technology to support the growth of their businesses. His current position as Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of NeuLion targets the revolution currently underway as the television and internet video industries converge. Chris has held numerous executive positions in the technology sector. Over the last seven years the growth of internet television on computers, tablets, mobile, and internet connected devices, has given Chris an opportunity to work closely with the largest brands in the sports and entertainment industry; the NFL, NHL, UFC, NBA, Rainbow Media, Dish Network and many others. He has also worked with several private equity and venture capital firms as their Chief Executive Officer, which includes Metiom, MetaMatrix, Exchange Applications and Digital Harbor. Chris has been on the Board of Directors of all of these companies. Chris has worked with some of the top names in technology. At Forstmann Little he worked with Erskine Bowles, former Chief of Staff for President Bill Clinton; while at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, he worked with Ray Lane, Managing Partner; and for 20 years has worked with Charles Wang, founder of Computer Associates. Chris' relationship with Charles Wang, and Computer Associates' former Chief Technology Officer, Nancy Li, created an opportunity to form NeuLion, where he is responsible for the strategy and execution of the company's marketplace efforts. The world is changing as it relates to digital media. Content owners have more leverage than ever as they move to IP based distribution. NeuLion has become a leader in creating new experiences for consumers with a fantastic array of interactive services delivered over the internet. Chris has been a frequent speaker at conferences, tradeshows, and industry events. Specialties include: sales and marketing, competitive analysis, financing, franchising, mergers and acquisition.

 

Dan Sweeney- Western Division Vice President, the Allant Group, an advertising and marketing data integration analytics company focused in media and other verticals.  Dan is responsible for business development reaching into the Cable MSO, studio, network, OTT, consumer electronics, and broadcast industries.  Allant customers include Comcast, NBCU, Charter, and Suddenlink among others.  Previously Dan was Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Solekai Systems, working for customers including Ultraviolet, Time Warner, DirecTV and TiVo.  Dan was also sales and marketing chief at meta data and entitlement software company Cauldron Solutions (now Grab Media), and ITV multiplayer gaming company Buzztime.   A telecommunications veteran, Dan also held senior level positions at Gemstar-TV Guide International (now Rovi), Cooke Cablevision and Showtime Networks, Inc.  Dan is currently the Co-Chair, Digital Media Group for CommNexus in San Diego. During his career in the digital video industry he has held several committee and chair positions within CTAM, NATPE and the ITA.

Steve McKay, CEO, Entone: Steve has focused his career on broadband multimedia services for the communications industry for nearly twenty years. Prior to joining Entone, Steve was the CEO of Ion Global, a pan-Asian systems integrator. Under his direction, Ion Global grew from 50 people in 1 country to over 1000 people in 10 countries. As part of a merger, the company went public on NASDAQ and later completed a $400M+ secondary offering. Steve also spent more than 12 years with Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting). While at Accenture, Steve worked with some of the world's leading CATV operators and telcos on their broadband and interactive television strategies and deployments. Steve has sat on more than 20 company boards. He received his MBA with distinction from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

 

David E. Leibowitz is Managing Partner of CH POTOMAC, working at the intersection of entertainment, media and technology and focused on bringing new innovative ways for people to enjoy and experience content.  David brings many years of experience in business, law and policy issues facing the entertainment, new media, CE and IT industries.  Among other activities, David is a Senior Advisor to Gibson Brands (parent company of such iconic brands as Gibson Guitar, Baldwin, Onkyo, Philips Home Entertainment and TEAC); Co-founder and Chairman of Sir Groovy (an award-winning solution for creating enhanced search metadata for musical recordings); Co-Chairman of Golden Shores Enterprises (a marketing and advertising technology firm that utilizes point of sale consumer data to deliver hyper-local digital advertising and lifestyle content across multiple digital platforms); and Chairman of Moonrider (an interactive advertising and content generation company whose platform is used to create engaging “magnetic” HTML5 and iOS experiences for tablets, smartphones, and other interactive devices).  David also serves as a member of the CEO Advisory Board of The Silverfern Group (a merchant bank specializing in buy-side M&A opportunities) and as Chairman of the Advisory Board of FIGHTER Interactive (a transmedia strategy and marketing services company for celebrities and brands).  In recent years, David has served as an Advisor to The SingTel Group (Asia’s leading provider of telecom, data and media services in 25 countries); as a Senior Advisor to Motorola Mobility; as Chairman of EZMO (one of the early cloud-based music social network and storage locker services operating in Europe); as Executive Vice President of Gotuit Media (a leading provider of premium metadata based video tools – since acquired by TiVO via Digitalsmiths); and as an Advisor to others in the content and technology industries.  Earlier in his career, David co-founded and served as Chairman and Co-CEO of Verance (the preeminent audio watermark technology provider used by the motion picture, music, CE and IT industries to protect, manage, and monitor the use of audio and audiovisual content); was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Recording Industry Association of America; was a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm Wiley & Rein; served as Policy Planning Advisor to the Register of Copyrights for the U.S. Copyright Office; and as an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Miami Law School, and at the Communications Law Institute of the Columbus School of Law (Catholic University).
