Randa Minkarah, Managing Partner, Marketing, OneAccord Digital: Currently, Ms. Minkarah is a Managing Partner of Marketing for OneAccord Digital, where she has responsibility for website transformations and all aspects of digital marketing. With 20 plus years experience in executive and sales leadership in television, radio and digital media, she is recognized for driving new thinking, growth, and change within companies. In addition to her role at OAD, she serves as an advisor to platform startups that focus on monetizing content and building audiences. Prior to OAD she served as Senior Vice President of Revenue and Business Development for Fisher Communications, Inc. where she held a series of roles of increasing responsibility, including leading the interactive business unit, purchasing programming for all stations and developing business and market initiatives to diversify revenues and increase shareholder value. Ms. Minkarah is an active and energetic member of multiple professional and community boards. She is a regular contributor to broadcast and digital conference and panel discussions. She earned her BFA in Broadcasting from the University of Cincinnati.

 

Nash Parker, Director, Emerging Technology Commercialization, Alcatel-Lucent: Nash Parker, Director, Emerging Technology Commercialization, Alcatel-Lucent: In this position, Nash Parker is responsible for the development of strategic business goals for the ng Connect Program (a 4G wireless/broadband ecosystems endeavor); identifying and evaluating of the program's partnership opportunities, marketing plans and legal requirements. Additionally, Mr. Parker serves in strategic direction activities, analyst relations, and is a primary liaison for Alcatel-Lucent with the media and advertising communities; including music, film, television, and video gaming. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Parker held positions as the Manager of Business Development for Sony Computer Entertainment America (PlayStation) and worked at General Motors Corporation in advertising and sales/marketing functions. Alcatel-Lucent provides tools, products and services that enable service providers, enterprises and governments worldwide, to deliver voice, data and video communication services to end-users. The company has now moved onto the content arena by enabling interactivity across service providers' digital platforms (IPTV, digital cable, digital terrestrial, Internet and mobile). This in turn provides their subscribers a unique 3 screen media experience to interact with their favorite brands and entertainment services. The result is a unique way for service providers to differentiate their packages, add revenue generating applications, increase the stickiness of the services and get more value out of their network infrastructure.

 

Robin Wilson, VP of Business Development, NAGRA:  As VP of Business Development at NAGRA, Robin Wilson’s responsibilities include ensuring that the company’s current and future solutions are developed and applied whenever new opportunities or markets arise. Robin has over 25 years of international broadcast technology experience in companies that include BBC, NBC, RCA, DiviCom, Grass Valley and Modulus Video where he has held various marketing, engineering, management and founding positions.  Robin has participated in and presented at many industry organizations including SMPTE, EBU, IBC, ATIS, IEEE and NATAS. He graduated with a BSc. degree in Applied Physics (EE) from Dundee University, Scotland, and holds a watermarking patent.

 

David Catzel, Senior Platform Strategy Advisor, Developer Platform Evangelism Group, Microsoft: David is a senior executive with 20 years of U.S. and international business experience within the media, entertainment and technology industries. He has focused on the integration of technology advances and media to expand market share and increase revenues. He has built numerous start-up ventures, worked with Fortune 500 Companies, held executive positions with large companies as diverse as Lucasfilm and Intel and has developed, negotiated and managed multi-year, multi million dollar strategic alliances with technology and media companies, ranging from IBM to NBC Television. He joined Intel in 1996 to develop and implement entertainment industry strategy in order to expand total available market for high-end Intel processors. He negotiated entertainment property rights and brokered multi-million dollar strategic technology, marketing and content engagements with Universal Studios, DirecTV, NBC, CBS and others to accelerate the development of the interactive TV and broadband markets. David has been involved in a variety of groundbreaking broadband and iTV projects highlighting the capabilities of a digital sports platform. He then focused on building Intel Capital's global sports investment portfolio of over a dozen technology and content companies. David subsequently helped launch Convera, a new digital media services company which was spun out of Intel to service sports and entertainment industry customers. David served as interim COO for Obvious Technology during its technology to services transition, has headed up a consumer products initiative for ESPN and developed and implemented digital transition strategy for a division of Barnes and Noble. As Senior Platform Strategy Advisor, he currently manages entertainment and communications industry relationships for Microsoft's Platform Strategy Evenagelism Group.

 

James M. Burger, Partner, Thompson Coburn LLP: Jim is a member of the Thompson Coburn Lobbying & Policy and Intellectual Property Groups. He has worked extensively on legal and policy issues arising from the intersection of digital technology, intellectual property protection, communications, and government regulation. Jim has represented the Computer Industry Group and other information technology entities in efforts to secure copy protection rules for DVDs, Blu-ray discs and digital music downloads. He has also represented technology clients before the Administration, Congress, and the FCC in regard to the Digital TV Transition, the Broadcast Flag, and international agreements affecting U.S. intellectual property law. His efforts in the copyright law arena include his work leading negotiations to exclude the computer industry from the Audio Home Recording Act, to avoid passage of the Digital Video Recording Act, and prevent passage of analog hole legislation. In addition, Jim has worked with the semiconductor industry in its efforts to prevent the importation of dangerous counterfeit semiconductors. Jim served seven years as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia Law School, where he taught Advanced Administrative Law.

Kim Hurwitz, SVP, Programming, FilmOn.TV Networks, Inc.; For ten years, Kim Hurwitz led the TCI and Adelphia sales and marketing teams for Cable, Broadband, & VOD in the greater Los Angeles area, and co-founding the SoCal PPV Cable Group, serving as President for two years.  In 2001, she became Director of Marketing at DIRECTV, responsible for a $500M P&L, returning in 2009. Between DIRECTV stints, Ms. Hurwitz was the Affiliate Relations Director for The Tube Music Network managing 90 TV stations and cable retransmission for the ground-breaking multicast channel. Since 2010, Kim has served as SVP, Programming for FilmOn.TV, a global IPTV platform where she has acquired more than 500 IPTV linear, VOD and podcast channels. In 2012 she added programming and scheduling duties for the FilmOn TV Network on KILM-TV. In 2013 the channel launched on the UK’s Sky Channel 292 and EuroSat channel 410. In 2014, she gained oversight as SVP, Programming for two new company acquisitions: FilmOn Media Licensing and Hologram USA.
