Gil Haslam, Creative Director, Sports Brands: If you watch sports on a screen, you’ve seen Gil’s work. A two-time Sports Emmy Award recipient, Gil is the creative force behind some of the biggest brand images in sports today, including ESPN’s SportsCenter, CBS Thursday Night Football, NBC Sports, HBO Sports and Time Warner Cable Sportsnet.  A top player at Troika since 2003 and our tour de force behind leading sports brands, Gil is recognized industry-wide for his experience as a trusted brand stewardship partner leading major, high-profile brand launches and redesigns from positioning through packaging, as well as innovative broadcast and in-stadium fan experiences. Gil’s game also extends to news, where he headed the global redesign of CNN and launched Time Warner Cable’s 16-channel news network, including NY1.  Gil began his career at The Pentagon, where he was stationed as an illustrator for the military. He then cut his teeth in the fast-paced world of TV news graphics before making his mark on an international scale. Today, Gil’s portfolio spans three decades and five continents.

 

Pete Scott, Turner Sports, VP of Emerging Media, Turner Sports: Pete Scott is vice president of emerging media for Turner Sports.  In this role, Scott Pete oversees digital operations and technology for delivery for the entire Turner Sports digital portfolio which includes TNT OverTime on NBA.com, TNT RaceBuddy, PGA.com’s PGA Championship Live and most recently Bleacher Report.  In addition, Scott oversees the company’s strategic partnership with Yahoo! Sports. Prior to his current role, Scott was the executive director of digital partnerships for Turner Sports where he managed Turner’s digital rights for NASCAR.COM, NBA.com, PGA.com and PGATOUR.COM, as well as broadband channels TNT OverTime on NBA.com and TBS Hot Corner on MLB.com. His responsibilities included managing the day-to-day programming of interactive content on each of the sites, which includes live streaming coverage, widgets and downloads, interactive TV and wireless platforms.  Since joining Turner Sports new media team in 2001, Scott has aided in developing NASCAR.com into one of the leading sports league Web sites on the Internet and diversifying Turner’s unique new media portfolio.  For the past seven years he has helped to create a digital media team with diverse expertise that has attracted attention from other professional leagues and their peers throughout the digital media industry.  His unique hybrid background of TV and digital platforms has helped Turner Sports develop into a leader in the digital sports business. Previously, Scott served as a senior video producer for FoxSports.com where he produced and directed the first live college football game streamed online.  Prior to joining Fox, he served as a senior production manager of remote operations for Turner Sports, coordinating logistics for the production of NBA, NFL and MLB telecasts on TNT and TBS.  Scott also spent six years as an editor and cameraman at CNN, covering such major events as the war in Bosnia and the U.S. invasion of Haiti. Scott earned his bachelor of arts degree in film and television, with a minor in business, from Boston University.

 

Nash Parker, Director, Emerging Technology Commercialization, Alcatel-Lucent: Nash Parker, Director, Emerging Technology Commercialization, Alcatel-Lucent: In this position, Nash Parker is responsible for the development of strategic business goals for the ng Connect Program (a 4G wireless/broadband ecosystems endeavor); identifying and evaluating of the program's partnership opportunities, marketing plans and legal requirements. Additionally, Mr. Parker serves in strategic direction activities, analyst relations, and is a primary liaison for Alcatel-Lucent with the media and advertising communities; including music, film, television, and video gaming. Prior to assuming his current role, Mr. Parker held positions as the Manager of Business Development for Sony Computer Entertainment America (PlayStation) and worked at General Motors Corporation in advertising and sales/marketing functions. Alcatel-Lucent provides tools, products and services that enable service providers, enterprises and governments worldwide, to deliver voice, data and video communication services to end-users. The company has now moved onto the content arena by enabling interactivity across service providers' digital platforms (IPTV, digital cable, digital terrestrial, Internet and mobile). This in turn provides their subscribers a unique 3 screen media experience to interact with their favorite brands and entertainment services. The result is a unique way for service providers to differentiate their packages, add revenue generating applications, increase the stickiness of the services and get more value out of their network infrastructure.

 

Dan Loesch is currently the Head of Monetization for Peel. Dan brings over 10 years of digital monetization experience to Peel. Having previously led revenue efforts for Disney’s social and mobile gaming studio, and start-ups like deviantART and Vault, Dan and his team focus on delivering beautiful user experiences to advertisers that want to leverage both the impact that the Peel Smart Remote has had on TV discovery in the living room and its vast collection of first party data. Powerhouse brands like Google, Activision, Samsung, History Channel and National Geographic have all activated campaigns with Peel. Dan has a BS from Cornell and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.

 

Jonathan Tavss, Founder, ConnectD: Since 1997, Jonathan Tavss has led innovation, marketing and product development as an executive on behalf of numerous companies -from Fortune 100 through start-ups -in the entertainment, consumer goods and service industries.  With co-founder, Andrew Freedman, their participation in Alcatel Lucent's ngConnect program led to what has evolved into ConnectD. ConnectD provides a core software application framework that takes the lead in two-way digital signage. Focusing on sports and entertainment venues, hospitality, financial institutions and more, our deployments deliver value-led engagement and connectivity between our clients and their customers in physical spaces.

 

Trevor Doerksen M.Sc., CEO & Founder, Mobovivo:  Trevor has been at the intersection of media and technology for 20 years.  Trevor produced snowboarding films and was the executive producer of a national science television series. He was recently named one of the Top 20 Thinkers in Social TV and Second Screen. His graduate research into content repurposing has lead to a multi-million dollar research projects, a chapter in a widely published textbook, and the founding of Mobovivo. A serial entrepreneur, Trevor has been awarded entrepreneur of the year, named one of 50 Most Influential People and was featured in New York Times.  Mobovivo solutions enable broadcasters and producers to market and distribute TV and Films.  The companies StayTuned Platform helps producers stay tuned to audiences to ensure they don’t lose their audiences to email, Facebook and games.  Mobovivo’s  platform ‘gamifies’ viewing and connects deeply to the cast, characters and story. Robert L. Schur – Chief Operating Officer, STATS:   Robert Schur joined STATS in 2000 and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the company. Under Mr. Schur’s direction, STATS has consistently increased a range of efficiencies throughout the company as well as year-over-year profitability.  Mr. Schur has lead STATS’ strategic growth in operations across Europe, Asia and South America through mergers and acquisitions and organic expansion. During his tenure, STATS has increased its coverage fourfold from 20,000 to 88,000 sporting events annually. Mr. Schur is also responsible for contract deliverables and client relationships for key partners including Microsoft, Google, Yahoo! and FOX Sports. He holds a BA from Indiana University, an MBA from the University of Illinois and a J.D. from the IIT-Kent College of Law.  Mr. Schur is also a Certified Public Accountant.
