Gerald Belson, Vice Chairman, U.S. Media & Entertainment Leader, Deloitte LLP:  Gerald is vice chairman and US Media & Entertainment Leader for Deloitte LLP’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) industry practice. He also serves as the Global Consulting leader for TMT and previously led the Telecom Consulting practice in the US Jerry has over 25 years of experience advising a broad range of clients across the three TMT sectors – from major US and global telecommunications carriers and global technology and entertainment companies to emerging market players.

Miguel Santos is the General Manager of Myx TV, the only English-language multicultural Asian American entertainment network in the United States, which is distributed in over 15 million households nationwide. He sets the overall direction and strategy for the network, including programming, production, creative, digital media, marketing, and business development. Myx TV's award-winning programming includes reality shows, live music performances and movies.  Santos has transformed Myx TV into a prolific media brand within the Asian American youth community and has also quickly gained recognition from the mainstream entertainment industry. The network launched several new original series in 2014, including “I’m Asian American and…,” “Eat Your Words,” and “Call to Cosplay.”  On top of their unique programming blend of original Asian-American reality series and acquisitions from domestic and international content partners, Myx TV has consistently championed Asian Americans in entertainment by supporting film festivals, giving airtime to independent Asian artists' music videos, producing concerts and videos for these young artists, Myx TV has also helped Korean pop (K-Pop) gain traction in the US, as one of the first American cable networks to air K-Pop music videos.  Santos’s work in advocating diversity through entertainment on behalf of Asian Americans has been recognized with a Special Recognition Award from the City and County of San Francisco in 2013, a Multicultural Marketing Award from the CableFAXIES in 2011 and multiple nominations for the NAMIC Vision Awards.  He was also named one of the “Most Influential Minorities in Cable” by CableFax Magazine in 2014.  Under Santos’s guidance, Myx TV has fully embraced digital by expanding distribution to connected devices by launching an AVOD app on Roku, Samsung Smart TV and Blu Ray, Sony Bravia and Blu-Ray to complement its cable channel.  Santos began his career abroad at MTV Networks Asia, where he learned to “think global, act local.” He was Head of Production and On Air Promotions for MTV Philippines and has produced shows aired on various MTV channels across Asia.

 

James Brickmeier is Senior Vice President of Strategic Marketing for Concurrent. He is responsible for Concurrent’s video strategy, business development and product marketing organizations. Mr. Brickmeier joined Concurrent in 2000 and has held a variety of roles at the company including Vice President and General Manager of Concurrent’s Video Solutions business unit.  Mr. Brickmeier has more than 18 years of experience in the software technology market and 13 years in the video industry. He has played a key role in developing the company’s multi-screen video strategy and promoting Concurrent’s solutions around the globe. He has been recognized by Multichannel News as one of the “40 under 40” influential people who are playing an important part in mapping the future of cable and telecommunications. Mr. Brickmeier has been quoted in major industry publications, including Multichannel News, Light Reading Cable, Heavy Reading, and CED on topics including CDN, nDVR, and VOD technology.  Mr. Brickmeier holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.

 

Robin Wilson, VP of Business Development, NAGRA:  As VP of Business Development at NAGRA, Robin Wilson’s responsibilities include ensuring that the company’s current and future solutions are developed and applied whenever new opportunities or markets arise. Robin has over 25 years of international broadcast technology experience in companies that include BBC, NBC, RCA, DiviCom, Grass Valley and Modulus Video where he has held various marketing, engineering, management and founding positions.  Robin has participated in and presented at many industry organizations including SMPTE, EBU, IBC, ATIS, IEEE and NATAS. He graduated with a BSc. degree in Applied Physics (EE) from Dundee University, Scotland, and holds a watermarking patent.

 

Mark Donnigan, Strategic Accounts Development, Beamr: As a digital entertainment insider, Mark Donnigan works at the intersection of technology, strategic go-to-market planning, and ecosystem development. Mark is currently a part of the executive team building Beamr, a pioneer of perceptual image recompression technology and creator of award winning Beamr Video and JPEGmini in the Media & Entertainment space. Additional companies Mark has been instrumental with include Dune HD, an IPTV and OTT set-top box manufacturer and creator of the world's first StickSTB. VUDU, T-VOD digital distribution pioneer now owned by Walmart. MOD Systems, a Toshiba and NCR backed digital content kiosk venture. And Kaleidescape, the reference standard entertainment server with Blu-ray downloadable EST and UltraViolet support. Maintaining an active professional profile, Mark is known as an engaging and highly knowledgable moderator, keynote speaker and contributor to IPTV and OTT industry events, consortia and working groups. With a formal education in computer science and music, Mark's passion for technology, business, entertainment and music, drives him to build breakthrough digital entertainment technology, product and service companies.

 

Xavier Kochhar is the CEO of Structured Data Intelligence (SDI), a company whose mission is deeply rooted in the belief that the world's data should be accessible for all to use. The company is behind the Video Genome Project (VGP), which has successfully mapped (catalogued, categorized, analyzed) the hundreds and hundreds of elements (metadata) within 7.5 million+ records of professionally produced video content-film, television shows, and series, and online video. The VGP is the largest, broadest and most granular structured database of video content in the industry. The VGP and the underlying SDI structuring technology have had massive implications not only for video content curation tools (such as search, recommendation, and personalization), but also for developers, publishers, content providers, marketers, and users all over the world who utilize any form of video content. Additionally, SDI's Insights division provides analytical lens tools which it layers on top of its structured databases so that its customers can glean actionable insights relating to video content that are used to drive business decisions. Prior to SDI, Mr. Kochhar was Managing Partner of MediaLink, a strategic advisory firm operating at the intersection of the media, advertising, and technology communities. In this role, he managed and executed upon the strategic planning and business science advisory services for the company and guided clients across of number of practice areas including digital strategy, strategic partnerships, marketing communications, media reviews, organizational management and restructuring, and revenue development. As one of the early executives and part of the original leadership team at MediaLink, Mr. Kochhar helped to build the firm into the media and advertising industry's preeminent strategy and implementation firm. His clients included many top Fortune 100 advertisers, digital media and entertainment companies and publishers, as well as dozens of the fastest growing VC-backed start-ups in both Silicon Valley and Silicon Beach, including many of today's top online video studios and distribution platforms. Mr. Kochhar also worked closely with premium venture capital and private equity firms as they sourced and analyzed deals in the media, ad-tech, and content sectors. Mr. Kochhar joined MediaLink from The Walt Disney Company, where he served as one of three corporate executives within Disney©'s Corporate Alliances group dedicated solely to the procuring and developing of new, mutually value-creating strategic relationships between outside corporations and the myriad assets across all the divisions of The Walt Disney Company. By sitting in Corporate atop Disney, his role had an ability to and necessitated the pulling of resources from the respective divisions within the company Studios, Theme Parks, Consumer Products, and Media Networks (ABC, ESPN, and the various Disney cable assets) in order to work with third-party B-to-B and consumer brand companies in various aspects of strategic and/or tactical relationships. These relationships included marketing, media buys, sponsorships, promotional activity, purchasing, corporate development, joint or integrated content opportunities, or co-branded JVs. Before Disney, Mr. Kochhar was a corporate packaging agent at the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, the largest and most prestigious talent agency representing the entertainment industry's top creatives and content producers; and a partner for an entertainment marketing company, which extends the brands of top consumer and retail companies into the world of media by identifying and/or generating integrated marketing opportunities based on or around top entertainment properties and franchises. Mr. Kochhar was also a strategy consultant in the Media and Entertainment group for London-based L.E.K. Consulting. He began his professional career in corporate finance, after graduating from U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business, working as investment banker for Tucker Anthony Sutro, where his focus was mergers, acquisitions, and private placements of emerging growth and middle market companies.
