Doug Craig is vice president of programming at Roku, where he is responsible for its content value proposition and entertainment development. Doug oversees the design and implementation of programming initiatives to drive consumer engagement and affinity through a deep understanding of Roku consumers and their viewing patterns. He also advises the business development team on strategic content acquisition and vertical growth.  Previously, Doug was senior vice president, business planning and operations, digital media and commerce at Discovery Communications, where he led digital syndication strategy, digital video production, commerce business and operations and planning for the division. He was responsible for all digital content creation for Discovery’s websites, mobile

platforms and syndication partners, designed to complement Discovery’s linear offerings.

 

Martin Focazio, Sr Strategist, Media & Entertainment Practice, EPAM: Martin has been helping companies develop strategies for the digitization of content, community and commerce for over 20 years. He has worked with an eclectic group of clients on large-scale including: AT&T, Sony Entertainment, Warner Brothers, Discover Card, The London Olympics, Comcast, Warner Brothers, Focus Features, DirecTV, Paramount Pictures, SiriusXM, Verizon, HIT Entertainment and Cineplex Entertainment. Martin has the depth of experience to correctly identify important trends in technology and consumer behavior and how they will impact markets, operational practices and business strategies in the near and long-term. He creates practical strategic roadmaps and helps his clients solve challenging problems, improve business performance, and enter new markets. In addition to his work in digital media, Martin is a published author (The eFactor, Amacom, 2001), and frequent speaker at trade organizations across many business verticals. He is an engaging and informative public speaker whose insights are well regarded.

Jim Turner, SVP Market Development + Sales, Net2TV: Jim Turner has a depth of experience in digital and television media that ranges from product and content strategy to advanced advertising technologies for some of the largest media brands. Turner comes to Net2TV from ThriveOne, which provides digital media, television and onlinebusiness consulting. Before founding ThriveOne, Jim was senior vice president of product strategy and business development at Canoe Ventures, a national joint venture of cable operators that delivers interactive television, advanced VOD and addressable advertising. Previously, Turner was vice president of products at Synacor, the leading white-label supplier of web services and digital media to the cable and Telco industries. There he created and

launched Synacor’s successful “TV Everywhere” initiative. Earlier, Turner was vice president of digital media at A+E Television Networks, where he managed the company’s Internet, advanced television and digital media properties across all brands. Before joining A+E, he was the founder and president of AvitageMedia, an advancedmedia consulting and production company.  Turner has also held executive positions at Women.com, Astronet.com and Kurzweil Music Systems. In 1994, Digital Equipment Corp. acquired his CDROM production company to create Digital Media Studios. Turner started out at CBS Technology Center, where he developed products for the radio and television networks, games and toys, and musical-instrument businesses. He holds two patents for electronic musical instruments

Turner holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut, a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s in electrical engineering from North Carolina

Mark Vena, Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Sling Media:  Mark Vena is currently Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Sling Media, a division of EchoStar Corporation. Previously, Mark was Chief Marketing Officer at Segway Inc. where he led the launch of the company’s latest models of the company’s popular line of innovative self-balancing Personal Transportation devices and Segway’s SE Patroller, the company’s first Three Wheeler device designed exclusively for the private security and public safety markets.  As Senior Vice President/General Manager of Synaptics' Human Interface Systems Division, Mark managed the company’s highly profitable and market-share leading line of notebook TouchPad solutions.  Mark is a seasoned industry veteran and has a unique consumer and business technology vision that focuses on growth and innovation-oriented usage models. Before joining Synaptics in April 2007 as Vice President of Synaptics’ PC Business Unit, Mr. Vena was Vice President of Worldwide Marketing at Alienware. Previously, Mr. Vena held senior business and product marketing management positions at industry leaders Dell, Compaq, Epson and IBM.  Mark is a graduate of Boston College and enjoys the theater and watching professional sports (with Slingbox, of course) during his leisure time.

 

Scott Campbell is Senior Global Director of Design Thinking with SAP, which is a human centered, collaborative approach to problem solving. Scott works with select customers in facilitating workshops, where they can re-imagine new possibilities to solve known problems and unearth opportunities for new value creation for customers & stakeholders.  Scott leverages a design mindset and design thinking tools to find human meaning for technology, generate thought provoking insights and brainstorm game changing ideas.  Scott was formerly a Senior Principal in SAP’s Industry Value Engineering practice at SAP, responsible for Media, Sports & Entertainment Industries and brings almost 30 years experience in content and technology production to the Design Thinking with SAP global team.

 

Peter Gerard, Director, Audience Development & Content Operations, Vimeo:  Peter Gerard is Director of Audience Development & Content Operations at Vimeo. In his role, Gerard oversees the marketing, distribution and promotions of the Vimeo On Demand catalog as well as Vimeo’s Original Series. Prior to joining Vimeo, Gerard was CEO and founder of Distrify, a video-on-demand service and online social cinema-marketing banner with offices in the U.S. and U.K. Gerard lives in New York City.

 

David E. Leibowitz is Managing Partner of CH POTOMAC, working at the intersection of entertainment, media and technology and focused on bringing new innovative ways for people to enjoy and experience content.  David brings many years of experience in business, law and policy issues facing the entertainment, new media, CE and IT industries.  Among other activities, David is a Senior Advisor to Gibson Brands (parent company of such iconic brands as Gibson Guitar, Baldwin, Onkyo, Philips Home Entertainment and TEAC); Co-founder and Chairman of Sir Groovy (an award-winning solution for creating enhanced search metadata for musical recordings); Co-Chairman of Golden Shores Enterprises (a marketing and advertising technology firm that utilizes point of sale consumer data to deliver hyper-local digital advertising and lifestyle content across multiple digital platforms); and Chairman of Moonrider (an interactive advertising and content generation company whose platform is used to create engaging “magnetic” HTML5 and iOS experiences for tablets, smartphones, and other interactive devices).  David also serves as a member of the CEO Advisory Board of The Silverfern Group (a merchant bank specializing in buy-side M&A opportunities) and as Chairman of the Advisory Board of FIGHTER Interactive (a transmedia strategy and marketing services company for celebrities and brands).  In recent years, David has served as an Advisor to The SingTel Group (Asia’s leading provider of telecom, data and media services in 25 countries); as a Senior Advisor to Motorola Mobility; as Chairman of EZMO (one of the early cloud-based music social network and storage locker services operating in Europe); as Executive Vice President of Gotuit Media (a leading provider of premium metadata based video tools – since acquired by TiVO via Digitalsmiths); and as an Advisor to others in the content and technology industries.  Earlier in his career, David co-founded and served as Chairman and Co-CEO of Verance (the preeminent audio watermark technology provider used by the motion picture, music, CE and IT industries to protect, manage, and monitor the use of audio and audiovisual content); was Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the Recording Industry Association of America; was a partner in the Washington, D.C. law firm Wiley & Rein; served as Policy Planning Advisor to the Register of Copyrights for the U.S. Copyright Office; and as an adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Miami Law School, and at the Communications Law Institute of the Columbus School of Law (Catholic University).
