Jeffrey Binder, CEO, Layer3 TV, Inc.: Jeffrey Binder was most recently a senior executive with Motorola, serving as Senior Director Strategy and M&A and GM of its On Demand Solutions group. In addition to day-to-day operations of the 150+ person on-demand solutions group with offices in the US, Europe and Asia, Mr. Binder spearheaded several key initiatives within the office of the CEO, as well as driving the companies worldwide on-demand video business and M&A strategy. Mr. Binder has been named as, one of eight Next Generation Leaders by MultiChannel News, Top 100 Heavy Hitters by CableFax Magazine and one of 40 under 40 by the Boston Business Journal. Prior to Motorola, Mr. Binder founded Broadbus Technologies, which was sold to Motorola in 2006 for nearly $200 Million. Broadbus pioneered the concept of television on-demand

using advance memory technology and became the leading supplier of video streams in 2006. It was at Broadbus where Messrs. Binder and Bisceglia as President and CEO respectively, went on to engineer on of New England's top ten exits since the tech bubble of '99. At Broadbus Binder set the bar for start-ups, creating an advisory board of the top technologists and media players in North America, including the CTO's of Charter, Cablevision, Rogers, Cox, Liberty Media and Time Warner. The advisory board also included David Fellows, CTO of Comcast the COO of Nickelodeon (Board Member), the President of Paramount Television and the President of Warner Domestic Television. Mr. Binder was Chairman and CEO of the Leading Golf Companies from 1996-2000, then the largest marketing and technology network of high-end golf courses in North America including Mauna Lani, Pebble Beach and Pinehurst. LGC was an outgrowth of incubator Nanosoft, which was an offshore development start-up founded by Mr. Binder 1995 to incubate young technology companies in China. Prior to Leading Golf, Mr. Binder led Magic Music's rapid growth as the largest provider of digital duplicating technology to record industry from 1991-1994 to companies including Capitol Records, MCA Records, Philips NV and Polygram. Mr. Binder has been an investing and trading professional since he became a Member of the Chicago Board of Trade in 1987. Mr. Binder has attended Harvard University as an undergrad with a concentration in Environmental Management.

 

Detavio Samuels joined One Solution as president, a newly created

position, in 2014.  Reporting directly to Alfred Liggins, CEO of Radio One and TV One, he is responsible for leading a team that pursues growth opportunities across the company's multi-platform portfolio through new and existing brand partnerships. In addition, Samuels oversees One Solution, an internal full-service agency that works closely with brands and agencies to create award-winning campaigns and integrated marketing initiatives across television, radio, interactive and events.  Samuels joined One Solution from GlobalHue-Detroit, the nation's leading multicultural agency. As the President of GlobalHue-Detroit he supervised the overall management, vision and development of the accounts within the advertising agency. Previously, Samuels worked in global marketing at Ethicon, one of Johnson & Johnson's largest medical device companies. In addition, Samuelsauthored the Amazon Best-Seller, Exist No More: The Art Of Squeezing The Most Out Of Life and established a personal inspiration company, Exist No More, which aims to inspire greatness in his generation. Through his writing and motivational speaking, Samuels motivates others in their professional and personal lives.  Samuels has been widely recognized for his professional achievements including the following prestigious lists: Black Enterprise's Top Executives in Marketing and Advertising (2011), Michigan Chronicle's Men of Excellence (2012) and Who's Who Amongst African-Americans in the Automotive Industry (2013).  Samuels was also named to Crain's Detroit Business Influential "40 Under 40" list (2013). He earned his Bachelor of Arts at Duke University and his MBA and MA-Education from Stanford University.

 

Evan Young, Senior Director of Product Marketing, TiVo:  Evan Young is Senior Director of Product Marketing at TiVo Inc., where he is responsible for overseeing a number of initiatives, including content, apps & developer SDK; tablet & mobile apps; cloud services; connected TV; and interactive advertising. He has extensive experience in broadcast, broadband, and consumer services, and has edited books on digital video recording and digital home audio recording and production. Evan has an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from Harvard University. While at Stanford, Evan was the founder of “The Future of Entertainment”, an annual business and technology conference about media convergence.

 

Kris Alexander, Chief Strategist, Akamai: As Akamai's Chief Strategist for Connected Devices & Gaming, Kris Alexander develops global strategies and solutions that help to extend and optimize end user experiences on any device, anywhere. Collaborating with Akamai's key partners and customers including Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, Sony, Qualcomm, EA, Activision, GREE, and Big Fish, he is a recognized thought leader in the fields of connected devices, cloud computing, cloud gaming and interactive entertainment. Prior to joining Akamai, Kris served as an independent business strategy consultant for companies including Parker Guitars, Turbine Games, and NaviSite. Earlier in his career, he held several positions with Genuity (formerly BBN Networks), including Director of Marketing and Strategy and Product Manager. He holds undergraduate degrees in Engineering and Marketing from Northeastern University and an MBA from Babson College.

 

Michael Goodman, Director, Digital Media Strategies, is an accomplished analyst with nearly 20 years’ experience providing critical market intelligence and strategic direction to executives navigating an increasingly complex, connected world. Michael Goodman provides clients with strategic insight on the evolution of digital media for the Strategy Analytics Digital Media Strategies Service (DMS), which assists companies in adapting to the changes occurring in the distribution, consumption and monetization of video, music, and games. Key areas of research include OTT video, video games, advertising, and digital music.  Prior to joining Strategy Analytics, Goodman founded Nexus Research Group, a research and consulting firm focused on the intersection of technology, media, and communications. Prior to that, Goodman was VP, Global Research Operations at Kantar Retail, where he managed retail analysts across multiple practice areas including Food, Drug, Mass, Value Discounters, Home Improvement and Digital. Goodman also, served as Senior Director, Research & Analytics at Mercury Media where he provided strategic vision, planning, and actionable recommendations for all areas of performance-based advertising. Prior to Mercury Media, Goodman spent nine years at the Yankee Group and held several positions at Nielsen Media Research (now known as The Nielsen Company).  Goodman holds a BS in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing, from Boston University.

 

Randall Hounsell, VP, Strategic Development at Comcast Cable:  Randall has spent nearly 15 years building new digital products and businesses with focus in mobile and video.  He's currently heading up new mobile product initiatives within Comcast’s Strategic Development organization, which develops and operates new businesses for the company. Prior to this, he was GM of StreamSage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Comcast which today powers Comcast's video search, recommendations, and voice controls across set-tops, mobile, and web. He built StreamSage from a tiny start-up to a large organization and built the platforms that now power navigation on over 30 million devices.  He began his career with Comcast leading business development for Comcast’s Internet business, where he co-led the launch of Comcast’s first web portal.  Earlier in Randall's career, he was Manager, Strategic Planning at Circuit City Stores, leading the strategy behind many of their new market and product initiatives.

 

Chris Thun, VP of Product, Fan TV, Rovi Corporation:  Internet and media entrepreneur Chris Thun was on the founding team of Fan TV in 2010.   The Fan TV device was unveiled at D: All Things Digital in May 2013, and is now available to all Time Warner Cable subscribers nationwide. In addition, the Fan TV service is available on the Web and through an award winning iOS app, giving consumers an easy way to discover more than one million movies and shows across 40+ entertainment services, including Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, ABC, NBC, Comedy Central, Xfinity, and more.  Prior to Fan TV, Chris built and managed some of the largest products and brands at Yahoo! and Apple. Chris holds a BA from Williams College and received his MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

 

Tim Hanlon is widely regarded as one of America’s most influential thought leaders in the concentric fields of emerging media, marketing and digital technology. He is the Founder and CEO of The Vertere Group, LLC, a boutique investment advisory and strategic consulting firm focused on helping today’s most forward-leaning brands, content producers, entrepreneurs, and investors benefit from rapidly changing technological advances in marketing, media and consumer communications. Tim was previously Founder and Managing Director of Velociter, the innovation-centric partnership and strategic investment arm of Interpublic Group’s corporate media agency division Mediabrands – where he was chiefly responsible for driving entrepreneurial innovation through proprietary relationships with more than a dozen innovative venture-backed media/marketing startup firms, including: BLiNQ Media (acquired by Gannett, 2012); Circle Street (Valassis, 2012); Machinima, Mixpo, Retailigence, Sharethrough, Friend2Friend, and Spongecell. Before Velociter, Tim was Executive Vice President/Managing Director of Publicis Groupe’s VivaKi Ventures – the strategic partnership and investment arm of VivaKi (comprising Starcom MediaVest Group, Zenith Optimedia Group, Digitas, Razorfish, and Denuo), which he founded in 2008, after launching predecessor Ventures practices for Denuo (2006) and Publicis Groupe Media/PGM (2005).  In those roles, Tim served in formal advisory and directorial positions with over four dozen media-related startups, while managing successful exits with nearly two dozen firms. Prior to founding the Denuo Ventures and PGM Ventures practices, Tim was Senior Vice President/Director, Emerging Contacts for Starcom MediaVest Group.  He was chiefly responsible for all US client activity and agency initiatives in the field of emerging media technologies, including the firm’s ground-breaking TV 2.0 Practice, centered around evolutionary television platforms such as interactive/ enhanced television, on-demand video, digital video recording, interactive program guide navigation, addressable advertising, and digital broadcasting/multi-casting. Tim has over 20 years of classic, digital and “emerging” media and marketing experience including senior management positions at marketing promotions agency Frankel (Chicago), regional advertising agency Creative Alliance (Louisville), digital content pioneer Starwave (Bellevue, WA), and credit card issuer MBNA America (Wilmington, DE).
