Steve Wong Heads the Media & Entertainment Division for Siemens in the Americas and is serial start-up media  and entertainment internet infrastructure person who enjoys putting first-ever disruptive technology in the  hands of billions.  Steve was recognized with a 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering  Development for the Teranex Video Computer. Steve is a Member of the Interactive Media Peer Group of  The National Academy of Television Arts& Sciences (The Emmy Awards). He is an Executive Academy  Member of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (The Webby Awards). In addition,  Steve is a Hollywood Section Manager of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers®  (SMPTE®). For fun, Steve is a marathon Runner, Crossfit competitor and rights feature film screenplays.  Steve was a co- lecturer with Former US Ambassador Gary Locke & Former Mayor of Los Angeles  Antonio Villaraigosa at The Global Leadership Program sponsored by USAChina Investments Group  hosted at University of Southern California.  Steve began his career in broadcasting working for Belo Broadcasting and then moved to ABC Capital  Cities (purchased by Disney) as Director of Research and Development. In this role, Steve experimented  with broadcasting live news on the internet with Cu-Seeme back in 1995.  During the times of broadcast conversion from Analog to Digital, Steve used his knowledge of  broadcasting to advice stations on broadcast equipment while at Leitch technologies (purchased by  Harris then purchased by Imagine)  During the times of broadcast and post production conversion from Standard Definition to High Definition,  Steve joined a Department of Defense Military technology spin-off start up (Teranex) that used Parallel  computing for video conversion and pre-compression processing. In his role, Steve advised a number of  broadcasters, postproduction studios, and movie studios on conversion, noise reduction, and 3:2 pull  down.  As content moved on-line, Steve moved into video transmission, storage, and distribution joining Level 3.  Steve advised client on the best practices for online live broadcast and Video on Demand distribution,  storage, and monetization. Currently Steve heads the media and entertainment group of Siemens helping  clients develop profitable turnkey businesses to deliver live and VOD content to consumers via mobile  devices.  Over the years, Steve has advised a number of start-up companies.

 

Phil Groves, Senior Vice President, IMAX Corp & Executive Vice President, Global Distribution, IMAX Entertainment: Phil joined IMAX Corporation in September, 2003. Based at IMAX's Santa Monica office, Groves' primary responsibility is overseeing all aspects of the company's global film distribution, the development of original film content, and working with the studios' distribution teams on event films benefitting from the revolutionary IMAX DMR® process. During Groves' tenure at the Company, he has successfully brought IMAX's slate of Hollywood blockbuster event films to IMAX screens around the world, beginning with the first day and date release of an IMAX DMR title, Matrix Revolutions, up to the present. Additionally, he has increased the reach of IMAX documentaries to more multiplex and institutional IMAX screens worldwide, including NASCAR 3D: The IMAX Experience, Deep Sea 3D (narrated by Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet), Hubble 3D (narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio), and most recently To The Arctic (narrated by Meryl Streep). Before IMAX, Groves was Vice President of Film for Loews Cineplex, spending over 20 years buying film for this national exhibition chain as well as Cineplex Odeon, and General Cinema. Prior to his executive film career, Groves earned screenwriting credits or storyboarded a number of films including the comedy classic Airplane!. Groves and his wife, Carol, have one daughter and currently live in Thousand Oaks, CA.
