Content is being exploited on all platforms, from tablets and smartphones to the multitude of video platforms. While the aggregation of these revenue sources may not yet reach the levels of TV, monetizing cross-platform is clearly huge and our future.

Russell Schwartz, Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs, Starz: has been Senior Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs at Starz Entertainment, LLC since April 5, 2011. Mr. Schwartz served as President of New Line Domestic Marketing of New Line Cinema, LLC and Time Warner Inc. He was Partner at the law firm of Sachnoff & Weaver. A 25-year TV industry veteran, Mr. Schwartz most recently was a Consultant, with clients including individual producers, new media start ups, ABC Studios and ABC Network. Mr. Schwartz ... spent 17 years at HBO in various business affairs positions and prior to that worked for GTG Entertainment and CBS Entertainment as a business affairs executive. While at HBO, Mr. Schwartz shepherded the mega-hit "Everybody Loves Raymond, " as

well as working on series starring Martin Lawrence, Tisha Campbell, Charles Dutton, John Leguizamo and Ben Stiller. Mr. Schwartz has also held various senior executive positions in the television business with responsibility for television production, financing, distribution, merchandising, strategic planning, and new media. Mr. Schwartz graduated with a B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis and received his J.D. from Cornell Law School.

Jeremy Lockhorn, Director of Emerging Media and Video Innovation, Razorfish: Jeremy leads the emerging media practice at Razorfish. The team is responsible for scouting opportunities in new channels like mobile, tablet, converged television, game consoles, digital out of home and more. It's a group also known as Advanced Media Specialists (AMS) that functions as filter, consultant, evangelist and big idea generator. It fuels innovation across the agency and helps clients navigate an increasingly fragmented media landscape with breakthrough strategic thinking that makes sense of the noise and separates the wheat from the chaff. Jeremy is a 15-year advertising industry veteran, having spent time at offline and direct marketing agencies before joining Philadelphia-based digital agency startup i-FRONTIER in 1997 as it's first employee. He teamed with founder Brad Aronson to grow the business and ultimately join forces with Razorfish. During his tenure at the agency, he has served many roles, but they share a common theme - the intersection of media, creative and technology. He's been a trusted advisor to a wide range of top marketers including Best Buy, Weight Watchers, Mercedes Benz, Expedia, Miller Coors, and more. He is a frequent speaker on emerging media, having presented at Cannes Lions, OMMA, CES, Digital Hollywood, Digital Signage Expo, iMedia, Internet Retailer, the AAAA Media Conference and many more. Jeremy also writes a monthly column for online magazine ClickZ and regularly publishes whitepapers on a broad range of emerging media topics/ Jeremy holds a BSJ in Advertising Management from Ohio University's Scripps School of Journalism, and is currently based in Seattle, WA.

 

Saul J. Berman, Ph.D. is Partner &Vice President, Global Service Area Leader for Strategy & Transformation within IBM Global Business Services (GBS). In this role he works closely with major corporations around the globe on strategic business issues. He leads a worldwide team of IBM consultants focused on delivering business value through business, technology and operations strategy engagements as well as organizational change initiatives. Prior to this role, Dr. Berman was the Lead Strategy Partner for the Media and Entertainment Practice as well as a Global Strategy & Change Services Leader at IBM GBS. Before joining IBM, Saul was the Global Strategic Change Leader at PwC Consulting. He was also previously with The Boston Consulting Group, a divisional Vice President with Broadway Department Stores and an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Southern California. Dr. Berman has more than 25 years of consulting experience advising senior management of large corporate and start-up organizations. He has directed engagements addressing issues of strategy, organization, and operations. He has worked extensively on issues of competitive positioning, differentiation, new business plans & strategies, new business models, growth, operational & cost improvement, operations/ manufacturing strategy, organizational design and enterprise transformation. His clients have included most of the major media companies as well as internet companies, telecommunication companies, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers and automotive companies in the United States, Japan, Europe and Australia. Dr. Berman holds a Ph.D. in Management and Information Systems and a MBA in Production Systems and Operations Research from the Graduate School of Business at Columbia University. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Economics at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania,. A frequent speaker to industry and strategic planning organizations such as the World Economic Forum, MIPCOM, Consumer Electronics Association, McGraw Hill Media Summit, the National Association of Broadcasters, Online Publishers Association and Digital Hollywood. Dr. Berman was named as one of the Top 25 Consultants of 2005 by Consulting Magazine & Top 50 Marketing executives over 50 by Global CMO Magazine. He is also an editorial advisory board member for Strategy & Leadership Magazine. Additionally, Dr. Berman served as a board member of the USC Film School Entertainment Technology Center, and of the Southern California chapter of the Strategic Leadership Forum. He has also authored numerous books and publications including Not For Free: Revenue Strategies for a New World, published by Harvard Business Review Press, and the recent IBM studies: “Beyond Digital - Connecting media and entertainment to the future,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012 and “The Power of Cloud - Driving business model innovation,” IBM Institute for Business Value, 2012.

 

David Reitman has over 20 years of experience, as a Video Game, Digital Media, Entertainment & Enterprise Senior Executive leading globally distributed teams; as it relates to Cloud, SaaS, Commerce, Payments, Marketing Distribution Strategies (SEO, Affiliate), Analytics, Digital Distribution, and Platform; helping companies define and properly execute their digital strategies while seamlessly integrating technologies and associated content partners into the business strategies to deliver value and revenue growth. David is currently the VP, Global Head of MESO (Media, Entertainment, Software & Online Services) industries leading a global team with focus on providing digital commerce solutions. Additionally, David has strategic and product innovation responsibility for the digital commerce business for hybris, an SAP company. Also, David provides Board Advisory support to VC-°©‐backed startups as it relates to developing and executing their Commercial Offering, Business Development & Strategy and Investment and currently serves as a Board Advisor to Tangentix and Greenman Gaming. Prior to hybris, David supported Digital River in a Business Development & Strategy/M&A capacity providing leadership for Strategic Alliances, Direct & Indirect Revenue Opportunities, Product Development, and M&A as it relates to their Global SaaS Cloud Commerce and Payments platform. Prior, David was the VP of Business Development at Gaikai, that built and launched their initial Product Offering, as well as, led the Team that worked with all of the Video Game Publishers & Developers, Consumer Electronics companies, MSOs & Carriers, Digital Distribution Partners. Before Gaikai, David was an Executive Leader with Equinix / Switch and Data and AT&T, leading vertically focused Teams with cross-°©‐functional members of sales, product and engineering executives that supported Media & Entertainment companies with technology solutions to support Massively Multiplayer and Social Games, Cloud Infrastructure, Digital Distribution of Media (i.e. Music, Film, Gaming & Software), Streaming Services, Content Distribution Networks and eCommerce. An instrumental figure within the Digital Media & Online Gaming industry, as the Executive Leader whose Teams supported the following Platforms: Disney/ABC, Facebook, Amazon, CBS, CNET, EA (Ultimate Online & Origin), Napster, Netflix, DirecTV, Wikipedia, Microsoft, Google, Real Networks, Blizzard Entertainment (World of WarCraft & BattleNet), Sony (PlayStation Network, EverQuest, EverQuest II, StarWars Galaxies, PlanetSide, & Vanguard), Turbine (Asheron's Call), Microsoft & Microsoft Game Studios (Xbox 360 Live platform), Codemasters, Konami, Onlive Game Services, Gaikai and Big Fish Games. Before joining the Internet technology industry, David was an Executive within the Music Business. He led an artist management firm for over 8 years managing artists on Warner Brothers, Elektra and Sony.

 

Michael Ritter, SVP Business & Corporate Development, SGN:  As Senior Vice President of Business & Corporate Development at SGN, Michael Ritter oversees all distribution, partnerships, licensing, monetization and corporate development activities.  Prior to SGN, Ritter was Founder and Publisher of Saturday Night Magazine, which he built into the largest circulated monthly collegiate lifestyle and entertainment magazine in the country. Services included event marketing, promotions and consulting for clients such as Geico Insurance, US Army, Playboy, Chegg, Fox, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros. Ritter serves on the Board of Advisors of Ritter Pharmaceuticals, which is in the process of FDA clinical trials to be the first approved drug to treat lactose intolerance. He graduated from the University of Southern California and also received his MBA from USC.

 

Mike Vorhaus, President, Magid Advisors: Founded the Magid Internet and New Media research and consultation practice in 1995, with AOL and Excite as his first two clients. Mike’s team has completed over 2,500 engagements with over 100 Internet clients. Mike began the Magid Gaming Practice in 2001 with EA and Sony Online as his first two clients. The Magid Game Practice now works with most of the major game publishers. Mike provides research and consulting services to a number of major traditional media companies in regard to their new media initiatives, as well as consulting a number of leading Internet and gaming companies. He has also provided advice to venture capital and private equity firms in regard to investments in the media space. Mike has been involved in strategic and tactical consulting, including the launch of new services and programming, as well as development and implementation of online and offline marketing programs. Mike has also been extensively involved in video and PC gaming strategies for a number of our companies, as well as the development of game concepts. Mike has consulted on a number of film projects such as You’ve Got Mail and The Matrix. He holds a B.S. in psychology and sociology from Wesleyan University and has worked as a fundraiser and transfer of technology officer at the California Institute of Technology and the University of California. Mike also worked for the U.S. House of Representatives, The U.S. Senate, and for two Administrations in the White House.
